Standard EN SampleCommon Information Necessary to Intelligent Appliances
Also Known As:
The EPA Energy Star Connected Appliance Criteria's basic standards for Smart Appliances are the main emphasis of the AHAM SA-1-2014 standard. The standard outlines the minimal specifications for every data item, although it is not a comprehensive list, and implementations may go beyond these limits.
The standard accepts that the capabilities, data items, and content will be expanded in subsequent iterations. It does not, however, outline the means of communication or the specifications for orders pertaining to the mentioned data items. Whether data is pushed, pulled, pinged, or sent in another way to or from the device is up to the implementing protocol.
In accordance with the standard, it is up to the implementing protocol to specify communication elements like acknowledgement, non-acknowledgement, cyclic redundancy check (CRC), payload size, etc. In other words, it is up to the protocol that implements the standard to decide exactly how these communication aspects are handled.
