Standard EN SampleHousehold and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Particular requirements for flexible sheet heating elements for room heating
Also Known As:
The safety standards for flexible sheet heating elements used for room heating in households and similar electrical equipment are specifically covered by AS/NZS 60335.2.96:2002 (R2016). For single-phase installations, heating elements with a rated voltage of up to 250 volts and 480 volts for other installations are covered by the standard.
In order to offer warmth in the space where they are placed, flexible sheet heating elements are made to be integrated into the building structure. In order to achieve the necessary level of protection against dangers, the standard underlines the significance of adhering to the manufacturer's instructions for safe installation.
It is important to keep in mind that different countries may have different wiring regulations. Additional specifications can be required if the heating units are meant to be used in automobiles, ships, airplanes, or other unique circumstances. Additional standards might also be stipulated by national agencies in charge of labor protection, fire protection, and construction rules.
The regulation, however, does not apply to heating systems that are only utilized in industrial settings or in places with corrosive or explosive atmospheres. Additionally, it does not include heated mats and foot warmers, blankets, pads, and other similar flexible heating equipment, heaters used under carpets, or flexible heating elements incorporated into other appliances.
