Also Known As:
An international standard called AS/NZS 60335.2.7:2009 is concerned with the security of electric washing machines used in homes and other similar settings. With a rated voltage of up to 250 V for single-phase machines and 480 V for other types of machines, it primarily applies to appliances made for washing garments and fabrics.
The safety criteria for electric washing machines that use an electrolyte instead of detergent are likewise covered by this standard. The standard's Annex CC contains additional recommendations for these particular appliances.
It is important to note that AS/NZS 60335.2.7:2009 will replace AS/NZS 60335.2.7:2002 and become effective two years after that date. It is anticipated that during this transitional period, regulatory agencies will approve washing machines that adhere to any version of the standard.
