Standard EN SampleStandard Test Method for Energy Performance of Stationary-Rack, Door-Type Commercial Dishwashing Machines
Also Known As:
Commercial stationary-rack, door-type dishwashing machines are subjected to the standard test procedure ASTM F1696-20 in order to assess their energy efficiency. The performance of such equipment in terms of cleaning or sanitizing is not covered by this standard. It is suitable to both hot water sanitizing and chemical sanitizing equipment, including fill-and-dump and upright door-type machines, undercounter single rack machines, pot, pan, and utensil machines, and machines for fresh water rinsing.
Prior to performance testing, the standard specifies methods to ensure that the dishwasher is functioning properly. These steps entail doing tests to establish the tank heaters' and booster heaters' (if appropriate) maximum energy input rates, calibrating water consumption, and calibrating the booster and tank temperatures.
The standard also includes tests for cycle rate performance and energy consumption. A washing energy test and an idle energy rate test, which gauge the energy use of both end-user behaviors (with the door(s) open and closed), are among these tests. The washing energy test calculates the energy used per rack.
The standard also recognizes the value of characterizing water use for assessing water and sewage costs related to dishwashing machine operation.
It is crucial to keep in mind that when performing the tests required by this standard, the information source to be used (such as a data plate, user manual, or communication with the manufacturer) should be documented in the test report, following the standard's preferred order of preference.
