Standard EN SampleStandard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Home Playground Equipment
Also Known As:
The consumer safety performance specification for playground equipment intended for use at home is ASTM F1148-22. This standard's purpose is to establish safety requirements for various types of home playground equipment used by kids between the ages of 18 months and 10 years, including toddler swings. The specifications in this document are based on age restrictions that take into account the dangers and the anticipated maturity of the kid.
The term "home playground equipment" refers to stationary items created with the intention of allowing kids to climb, swing, slide, rock, spin, crawl, or otherwise move about. Except when attached to the play equipment, it does not include exercise equipment. Equipment used in child-care facilities with more than six children under ten years old, equipment for public gathering places, and juvenile care goods are not covered by this specification.
This specification's goal is to lessen the possibility of catastrophic or permanently crippling injuries. The standard also specifies tolerances and conversions for measurements and procedures for identifying goods that adhere to safety criteria. Terminology, materials and manufacture, performance standards, installation, maintenance guidelines, labeling and signage, and other topics are all covered in various sections of the standard.
