Standard EN SampleStandard Test Method for Performance of Rack Conveyor Commercial Dishwashing Machines
Also Known As:
Guidelines for assessing the water and energy consumption of rack conveyor dishwashing machines are provided by the ASTM F1920-20 standard. The standard places more emphasis on measuring the effectiveness and performance of dishwashers than on how well they can clean or sanitize.
The standard is applicable to single- and multiple-tank hot water sanitizing and chemical sanitizing rack conveyor devices. Additionally, it consists of dual sanitizing devices that can switch between high and low temperature settings, as well as rackless conveyors (like flight-type machines). Dishwashers without a steam injection tank or booster heat are not taken into account; only those with a steam coil tank or these two features are.
Before performing performance testing, the standard specifies procedures to ensure that the dishwasher is functioning properly. These procedures include calibrating the wash tank pump, conveyor motor, booster, and tank heaters' maximum energy input rates (if applicable). Additionally, energy consumption and cycle rate performance evaluations are included, including assessments of the washing energy performance, tank heater idle energy rate, and booster idle energy rate (if offered).
