When creating designs that are not covered by existing ASTM Committee F24 standards, designers and engineers of amusement rides and equipment can resort to the ASTM F1159-16e1 standard for design references and criteria.
The standard lays out guidelines and information for creating amusement rides, devices, and significant alterations to them that the designer or engineer deems fall beyond the purview of other ASTM F24 design standards. The designer or engineer must review all pertinent ASTM Committee F24 standards and determine that Practice F1159-16 is more applicable and appropriate for the particular amusement ride or device before declaring that it is exempt from other ASTM F24 standards and subject to Practice F1159-16.
