Standard ENStandard Test Method for Embossed Depth of Resilient Floor Coverings
Also Known As:
The measurement of the embossed depth of resilient floor coverings is the main objective of the ASTM F373-13 (R2022) standard. Specific to flooring surfaces with interrupted wear surfaces, including textured sections and flat portions divided by textured areas, the standard applies. It does not include flooring that is supported by layers of soft padding.
This standard's goal is to offer a way to gauge how deeply resilient floor coverings are embossed. The height or depth of the flooring's surface texture, known as the embossed depth, determines how smooth and durable the flooring is overall. Manufacturers and consumers can evaluate the quality and functionality of the flooring by determining the embossed depth.
The method for carrying out the test is described in the standard. It outlines the necessary tools and equipment as well as the procedures to be followed. In order to conduct the test, multiple measurements of the embossed depth must be taken across the flooring's surface. To provide a typical value, these measurements are then averaged.
