The safety and quality standards for partially or totally inground swimming pools at home are specified in the standard BS EN 16582-2:2015. It should be studied in conjunction with EN 16582-1 because it expands on the broad requirements there. This standard's specific requirements and test procedures take precedence over its general requirements.
This standard only applies to in-ground pool construction and the ways in which they are accessed. It applies to swimming pools with a minimum water depth of 400 mm or more. However, as public pools are protected by EN 15288-1, it does not apply to them. Additionally, the norm is not applicable to residential or public spas and does not apply to paddling pools, which are governed by a different standard (EN 71-8).
