The surface resistance to abrasion of furniture can be assessed using the BS EN 15185:2011 standard. The surfaces covered by EN 14434, leather, and textiles are expressly excluded from this specification. The test can be done on test panels made of the same material and finishing as the finished product, but it is intended to be done on a section of the finished furniture. The surfaces being tested ought to be clean. With the use of this standard, furniture surfaces will be evaluated for their capacity to survive wear and tear from frequent usage without suffering serious harm.
