The BS EN IEC 60311:2019 standard offers techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of electric irons used in homes or other settings. In comparison to the 2018 edition, the 2019 edition of the standard includes a number of technical updates. Clarifications have been made regarding the voltage and frequency to be used for the tests (5.3), the addition of an anti-circumvention subclause (5.12), the method for calculating the steaming rate (9.2.3), the requirements for the kind of water used in the tests (14.1 and 14.2), and the alignment of Figure 2 with the pertinent formula.
