BS EN 30-1-4:2012 PDF Download

A European standard known as BS EN 30-1-4:2012 describes the construction, performance traits, safety standards, and test procedures for gas-burning home cooking equipment. Appliances with one or more burners and an automatic burner control system are subject to this standard. Regardless of whether the appliance has a fan for combustion air supply or exhaust, it provides special specifications and testing procedures for burners with automatic control.

This standard is intended to be used in conjunction with EN 30-1-1:2008+A2:2010 and other provisions of EN 30-1 that address glass ceramic hotplates and appliances with forced-convection ovens and/or grills. It does not, however, address all safety criteria unique to such appliances. The standard is applicable to both individual appliances and independent component parts, including those that use electricity to power additional heating elements (such as combined gas-electric cookers).

The electrical safety of equipment connected to gas use in appliances is likewise covered by BS EN 30-1-4:2012; however, it does not touch on the electrical safety of component parts that are heated electrically. Appliances with pyrolytic gas ovens, those connected to combustion product evacuation ducts, outdoor appliances, and those with certain automatic burner control systems are exempt from its provisions. Additionally, it does not apply to appliances that use third-family gas cylinders or higher pressure supplies, air-gas ratio controls, programmable delayed start options, or appliances with specified burner layouts. Only type testing is covered by this standard.
