A standard known as BS EN IEC 60730-2-11:2020 especially addresses the specifications for energy regulators used in many pieces of equipment, including heating and cooling systems. Energy regulators using a variety of energy sources, such as electricity, gas, oil, solid fuel, and solar thermal energy, must adhere to the criteria. It provides details pertaining to energy regulator safety, operating values, operating times, and operating order that are crucial for guaranteeing equipment safety.
The testing of automatic electrical energy regulators used in conjunction with equipment is also covered by this standard. It applies to energy regulators made for IEC 60335-1-compliant appliances. Furthermore, with the exception of those created specifically for industrial process applications, it applies to energy regulators used for both public and private uses.
The equipment and controls for building automation that are a part of a control system or have non-electrical outputs are not covered by the standard unless they also serve as energy regulators. A technical upgrade and updated title are included in the third edition of this standard, which was released in 2020. The phrase "household and similar use" has been removed. It should be used in conjunction with IEC 60730-1 and incorporates Amendment 1 from the fifth edition of that standard.
