The requirements for resilient floor coverings made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with various types of backing materials are outlined in the standard BS EN 650:2012. The floor coverings might come in rolls or tiles. The standard includes a classification system based on use intensity in order to give consumers information they may use to make educated decisions. Where certain floor coverings are suited for satisfactory performance can be determined with the use of this classification system, which is found in EN 685. In order to verify compliance with the standards laid out in the standard, the standard also specifies requirements for labeling the floor coverings.
