Furniture: Ranked Seating- Requirements for Safety, Strength, and Durability
Also Known As:
A European standard known as BS EN 12727:2016 specifies criteria for the security, toughness, and longevity of ranked sitting furniture. No matter whether it is a bench or individual chairs, the requirement explicitly applies to seating that is fastened permanently to the floor and/or wall.
It is crucial to remember that street furniture and linked seating that is not secured to the floor or walls are not covered by this standard. Furthermore, BS EN 12727:2016 does not provide specifications for elements such upholstery material durability, flammability, resistance to aging and degradation, and degradation.
Two annexes are also included in the standard. Additional test procedures are included in Annex A and are regarded as normative. The test severity with respect to the application is, however, informatively described in Annex B.
