A European standard known as BS EN 419:2019 describes the specifications and testing procedures for gas-fired overhead radiant heaters used in non-domestic environments. The construction, safety, energy efficiency, classification, and branding of these appliances are all covered by the standard. It specifically applies to heaters that operate at low or medium gas pressures, such as Type A1 and Type A3 heaters. Appliances made for household use, outdoor appliances, and those with a heat input greater than 120 kW are not covered by the standard. The standard also applies to appliances that are meant to go through type testing.
