Standard EN SampleSpecification for Dedicated Liquefied Petroleum Gas Appliances - Parasol Patio Heaters - Flueless Radiant Heaters for Outdoor or Amply Ventilated Area Use
Also Known As:
A European standard called BS EN 14543:2017 describes the requirements for specially designed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) equipment, such as flueless radiant heaters for outdoor or well-ventilated area use and parasol patio heaters. The standard focuses on these sorts of appliances' designs, safety, marking regulations, and test procedures.
The appliances covered by this standard must have a nominal heat input of no more than 17 kW, a maximum inlet pressure of 50 mbar, and be made for use with third-family gases. It includes both stationary and portable patio heaters, as well as those that house a portable, rechargeable LPG cylinder.
It's crucial to remember that this requirement does not apply to appliances that have fans installed for combustion or convection air movement. The LPG tanks, regulators, tubing, and flexible hoses required for gas supply are also excluded. National laws and other criteria apply to these components.
The standard makes sure that the combustion, which is essential for safety, is efficient, even though it does not specify any requirements for thermal efficiency. However, a mechanism for gauging the effectiveness of these appliances is provided in an informative annex.
