The performance specifications and testing procedures for non-reclosable packaging intended to be child-resistant are laid forth in the BS EN 862:2016 standard. The goal of this standard, which is exclusively for non-pharmaceutical products, is type approval rather than quality assurance.
The standard is applicable to non-reclosable, single-use packages made up of one or more separate units. It does not, however, apply to child-resistant non-reclosable packaging for pharmaceutical items because EN 14375, a different standard, provides the specifications and testing methods for such packaging.
