This standard outlines the specifications and testing procedures for activity toys made for children under the age of 14. Among the items covered by this standard are fully enclosed toddler swing seats, in addition to swings, slides, seesaws, carousels, rocking toys, and climbing frames.

The fitness and sporting gear that is not attached to the activity toy is not covered by this standard. Additionally, it does not include any equipment made for use in public playgrounds, schools, daycare centers, or other comparable settings. Furthermore, juvenile care products including baby swings, playpens/enclosures, beds or furniture, rocking cradles, and items made for therapeutic use are not covered by this standard.

This standard covers inflatable activity toys, but it excludes any motorized blower used to constantly inflate such devices. Instead, the blowers are covered by IEC 60335-2-80 regulations because they are classified as household appliances.
