Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-23: Particular Requirements for Appliances for Skin or Hair Care
Also Known As:
Appliances used for skin or hair care are explicitly covered by the household and comparable electrical appliance safety standard CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-23:21. With Canadian modifications, it is an implementation of IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60335-2-23. The standard, which is part of a series published by CSA Group under the Canadian Electrical Code, replaces the previous edition.
This standard applies to electric devices with a rated voltage of no more than 250 V that are used to care for people's or animals' skin or hair and are designed for residential use or other comparable uses. Curling combs, hair dryers, hand dryers, facial saunas, and permanent-wave appliances are a few examples of the appliances covered by this specification. Appliances that might feature steam or spray-producing equipment are also covered by the standard.
The standard, which is applicable to everyone, covers the threats that are posed by these appliances and is reasonably foreseeable. It does not, however, account for those who have physical, sensory, or mental impairments that prevent them from using the device securely without supervision or guidance, as well as youngsters who are playing with it. It is significant to highlight that appliances created just for industrial use, those created for particular regions with unique needs, and those created for medical use are not covered by this standard.
