Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Water-Bed Heaters
Also Known As:
The safety criteria for electric water-bed heaters and related control units used in homes and other similar settings are covered by the CAN/CSA-E335-2-66-95 (R2005) standard. It is applicable to devices with a maximum rated voltage of 250 V. The guideline also covers items like hotel appliances that weren't made primarily for home use but could nonetheless endanger the public.
The standard aims to address typical risks connected to these items that people come across in and around their homes. However, it does not take particular situations into account, like young children or those with limited mobility using the appliances unattended. The standard also makes clear that extra specifications may be needed for appliances used in automobiles, ships, airplanes, or tropical locations, as well as criteria set forth by national health authorities, labor protection organizations, water supply authorities, and other similar organizations.
It's vital to note that this standard does not cover medical devices (which are covered by IEC 601) or gadgets meant to be submerged in water while in operation.
