It does not, however, expressly address the issue of young children playing with the device or the usage of appliances by unattended youngsters or people with physical limitations. Appliances made specifically for industrial use or those destined for areas with unique characteristics, including corrosive or explosive atmospheres, are exempt from the standard's requirements. Separate requirements may be required in certain situations.
