Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-2: Particular Requirements for Vacuum Cleaners and Water-Suction Cleaning Appliances
Also Known As:
The CSA E60335-2-2:06 (R2020) standard, which is based on CEI/IEC Standard 60335-2-2, is applicable to motorized cleaning heads, water-suction cleaning machines, and electric vacuum cleaners used in homes and other settings. The standard applies to centrally located vacuum cleaners and covers machines with a rated voltage of up to 250 V. It contains equipment used for routine housekeeping tasks in lodging establishments like hotels, businesses, schools, and hospitals.
The standard intends to address the frequent risks connected to this equipment that are encountered by everyone inside and outside the home. It does not, however, expressly address the issue of young children playing with the device or the usage of appliances by unattended youngsters or people with physical limitations. In each nation, it is crucial that the national health authorities, labor protection agencies, water supply authorities, and other comparable authorities determine any additional standards particular to that area.
Appliances made specifically for industrial use or those destined for areas with unique characteristics, including corrosive or explosive atmospheres, are exempt from the standard's requirements. Separate requirements may be required in certain situations.
