Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-32: Particular Requirements for Massage Appliances
Also Known As:
A national standard for Canada, CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-32:20, was derived from IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60335-2-32. It is part of a series of standards released by CSA Group under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code and supersedes the earlier edition that was published in 2001.
This standard's scope includes the safety of electric massage appliances used in homes and for similar tasks, with rated voltages of no more than 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances. Foot massagers, water-filled foot massagers, hand-held massagers, massage beds, massage belts, massage chairs, and massage pads are a few examples of the equipment covered by this standard.
The standard also includes rules for non-regular household equipment that could nonetheless endanger the public, like those used by regular people in light industries, farms, and stores. The needs of people (including children) with physical, sensory, or mental impairments are not completely considered, nor are those who lack the expertise or understanding necessary to use the appliance safely without supervision or guidance.
The use of appliances in automobiles, ships, aircraft, or nations where national health authorities or labor protection authorities have established additional regulations may necessitate additional standards. Electric appliances for foot care, skincare, hair care, and beauty care, which are covered by other particular IEC standards, are not included in the standard. Neither are appliances used in areas with unique characteristics (corrosive or explosive atmospheres).
