Gas-Fired Outdoor Infrared Patio Heaters
Also Known As:
The third edition of this standard, CSA/ANSI Z83.26:20/CSA 2.37:20, replaces iterations that were released in 2014 and 2007. This standard is intended to offer instructions for the manufacture, setup, and operation of gas-fired outdoor infrared patio heaters.
The maximum input rating has been raised to 24,000 Btu/hr; the distinction between tabletop heaters and patio heaters not for tabletop use has been made; and there are new annexes for gas field conversion kits and installations at altitudes above 2000 ft. These are just a few of the significant changes in this edition. References to liquefied petroleum (LP) gas have been replaced with references to propane to make it clear that other forms of LP gas should not be used.
The scope of this standard covers freshly manufactured, propane- or natural-gas-fired outdoor infrared patio heaters built with new components and materials. Installation and heating of residential or non-residential spaces are the intended uses for these heaters. They can be used for tabletop use, hanging from an angle above, hanging from a wall, or hanging from the floor.
For patio heaters not designed for tabletop usage that may be connected to a fixed fuel piping system or an integral self-contained propane gas supply system with particular pressure constraints, as well as for tabletop heaters limited to input rates of 24,000 Btu/hr or less, there are specific provisions. The standard also covers design concerns for operation at altitudes above 2000 feet and optional listed conversion kits.
