Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-6: Particular Requirements for Stationary Cooking Ranges, Hobs, Ovens and Similar Appliances
Also Known As:
A standard called CAN/CSA-E60335-2-6:18 is concerned with the security of stationary electric cooking ranges, hobs, ovens, and related home appliances. It is designed to work with appliances rated at no more than 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances. Ovens used on ships must also meet a few specifications specified in the standard.
Griddles, grills, induction hobs, induction wok elements, pyrolytic self-cleaning ovens, and steam ovens are included in the standard's scope. It seeks to address the typical risks connected to these appliances. However, it does not fully take into account the skills, knowledge, and experience of those who might require guidance or instruction in order to use the appliance properly. Additionally, it excludes microwave ovens, portable cooking devices like grills and toasters, and appliances used in potentially explosive or corrosive settings.
The standard was created in accordance with the National Standards of Canada's Standards Council of Canada. The IEC Standard 60335-2-6 (sixth edition, 2014-02) has been adopted with Canadian modifications. The standard has been published as a National Standard of Canada by the CSA Group after being examined and formally authorized by the CSA Technical Committee on International Standards.
