However, thermoelectric flame supervision-based burner control systems are not included.

The safety features of these control systems are covered by the standard, including the declared operating values, operating times, and operating procedures for burner safety as specified by the manufacturer. Furthermore, it establishes standards for testing these systems. The standard also covers manual controls that are mechanically, electrically, or both integrated with automatic controls, as well as controls that use electronic components.

The standard is applicable to controls having rated voltages and currents of no more than 660 V and 63 A, respectively. Unless it is crucial for the protection of the user or the environment, it does not expressly take into account the response value of an automatic control action. In these situations, it is recommended to adhere to the value specified in the applicable household equipment standard or chosen by the manufacturer.

Automatic electrical controls specifically created for industrial uses are exempt from the standard. Separate ignition transformers are also not included in its purview. It does, however, have controls that react to flame characteristics.
