Standard EN SamplePortable Type Gas Camp Stoves
Also Known As:
The fourth edition of the CSA/ANSI Z21.72:19/CSA 11.2:19 standard replaces the editions from 2016, 2011, and 2000. The standard has been revised to reflect current business procedures and the drafting standards guide from the CSA Group.
The major updates in this edition include a change to the maximum input for portable gas stoves, the addition of specifications for the safety issue of removable gas sealing means, the manufacturer's specification of fuel canisters for testing, the prevention of fuel canister overheating, the requirements for disposable butane fuel canisters, the inclusion of remote cylinders using compressed gas, and the harmonization of recreational activities.
Portable gas camp stoves that use propane gas, butane gas, or any combination of the two and have input ratings of 15,000 Btu/hr or less per burner are covered by this standard. Additionally, it provides that stoves and parts made differently from the norm may be investigated and acknowledged if determined to be equal.
The standard is applicable to stoves made entirely of fresh, unused components, and unless otherwise stated, all references to psi are taken to mean gauge pressures. Appliances must be supplied and evaluated with any recommended accessories for usage with certified appliances.
The standard includes annexes with provisions specific to Canada, a list of references, and information on where to get those standards. The first specified value must be met when using SI (Metric) units, and the values that follow may be approximations.
