Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-68: Particular Requirements for Spray Extraction Machines, for Commercial Use
Also Known As:
CSA Group and UL collaborated to create the harmonized standard known as CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-68:20. It is the first edition of both UL 60335-2-68 and CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-68, and it replaces the earlier standard CAN/CSA-E60335-2-68:01.
The safety criteria for electrical portable spray extraction equipment used in commercial indoor environments are especially covered by this standard. It covers machines without traction drives as well as those with power sources including battery- and mains-powered motors with rated voltages of 250V for single-phase appliances and 480V for other appliances.
The guideline applies to many different types of commercial venues, including public use spaces, industrial sites, retail stores, office buildings, rental services, and other applications besides simple housekeeping. It establishes restrictions on the temperature at the spray nozzle outlet, the pressure, and the flow of the cleaning substance used in these devices.
Wet and dry vacuum cleaners, commercial floor treatment equipment, hand-held and transportable motor-operated electric tools, vacuum cleaners designed for use in corrosive or explosive environments, vacuum cleaners that pick up hazardous dust or substances, and vacuum cleaners made to handle hazardous solvents are all excluded from this standard.
The standard also mentions that national health authorities, authorities in charge of labor protection, authorities in charge of water supply, and similar authorities in various countries may specify additional requirements for the safe use of the covered equipment.
