Standard EN SampleAutomatic Electrical Controls - Part 2-6: Particular Requirements for Automatic Electrical Pressure Sensing Controls Including Mechanical Requirements
Also Known As:
The Automatic Electrical Controls, Parts 2–6, Particular Requirements for Automatic Electrical Pressure Sensing Controls The Including Mechanical Requirements Standard, also known as CAN/CSA-E60730-2-6:17, is a set of instructions for the design, development, and testing of automatic electrical pressure sensing controls. The IEC Standard 60730-2-6 has been adopted, with minor Canadian modifications.
The standard is applicable to pressure sensing controls with a gauge pressure rating of -60 kPa or less and 4.2 MPa or more. These controls are applied to or utilized in conjunction with machinery that could make use of electricity, gas, oil, solid fuel, solar thermal energy, or a combination of these. The standard also applies to standalone pressure sensing controls that are utilized as a component of a control system or as essential parts of multifunctional controls with non-electric outputs.
The standard provides pressure sensing controllers for appliances used in shops, light industry, and farms, as well as other publicly accessible equipment. Unless expressly stated in the applicable equipment standard, it does not apply to pressure sensing controllers specifically made for industrial process applications.
The standard covers automatic electrical pressure sensing controllers' inherent safety, operational values, operating sequences relevant to equipment protection, and testing. It also addresses the functional safety of safety-related controls and systems with moderate complexity. The standard also covers pressure-sensing controls for appliances covered by IEC 60335-1.
The standard covers pressure sensing controllers that react to or regulate pressure or vacuum and are both mechanically and electrically driven. Additionally, it consists of manually operated controls that are mechanically or electrically connected to pressure-detecting controls. IEC 61058-1 does, however, cover manual switches that are not part of an automatic control.
The standard is applicable to pressure sensing controllers that are AC or DC operated and have a rated voltage of no more than 690 V AC or 600 V DC. If the automated action of a pressure sensing control depends on how to mount it in the apparatus, the response value of that automatic action is not taken into consideration. For significant response values relating to user or environmental protection, the applicable equipment standard or manufacturer's determination should be used.
The standard also includes NTC or PTC thermistors used in pressure sensing controllers, as described in Annex J, and electronic devices, as specified in Annex H. It provides specifications for mechanical and electrical components that have an impact on how pressure sensing controllers are intended to function.
