The Canadian version of the IEC Standard 60335-2-15 is known as CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-15:14. It supersedes the previous edition that was released in 2005 and is meant to be used along with CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60335-1-11, which addresses the fundamental specifications for home appliances and comparable items.

The standard's scope includes the security of electrical devices used to heat liquids for domestic and similar uses with a maximum rated voltage of 250 V. Coffee makers, cooking pans, egg boilers, kettles, milk heaters, pressure cookers, rice cookers, slow cookers, steam cookers, soy milk makers, tea makers, wash boilers, and yogurt makers are a few examples of appliances that fall under this scope. The standard also includes equipment that could be utilized by regular people in farms, light industry, and stores.

The standard attempts to address the typical risks that these appliances bring that are experienced by everyone in and around the home. However, it disregards those who are unable to use the appliance safely without supervision or instruction due to physical, sensory, or mental impairments or a lack of expertise and understanding. Additionally, it does not cover certain specifications established by national health authorities, national authorities in charge of labor protection, national water supply authorities, and other similar authorities. It also does not cover appliances intended for professional usage.

The standard does not apply to frying pans, deep-fat fryers, storage water heaters, instantaneous water heaters, surface-cleaning appliances using liquids or steam, portable immersion heaters, commercial dispensing appliances, vending machines, appliances for use in special conditions, high-frequency heating appliances, pressure sterilizers, or humidifiers for hygienic conditions.
