It is stated that the CSA/ANSI Z21.19:19/CSA 1.4:19 standard provides a list of specifications for gas-fired refrigerators. The standard includes freezers used for a variety of tasks, including food storage, ice production, and frozen food storage. The standard is applicable to refrigerators made from brand-new, unused components.

The standard covers requirements for freezers made for use with propane and liquefied petroleum gases in addition to natural gas. Additionally, it includes refrigerators that can run on either natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas. The standard also applies to refrigerators intended for installation in mobile homes and recreational vehicles.

The construction and operation of gas-fired freezers are covered under the standard. Additionally, it contains provisions for the cabling, accessories, and electrical hardware utilized in these refrigerators. The absorption or adsorption-type refrigerators specified by the standard employ a self-contained refrigeration system.

The standard also mandates the use of Group 2 refrigerants in amounts no greater than 6 lbs, including ammonia, dichlorethylene, ethyl chloride, methyl chloride, methyl formate, and sulfur dioxide. The Mechanical Refrigeration Code and the Safety Standard for Refrigeration Systems' applicable requirements must be met by these refrigerants.

The standard also includes installation instructions for refrigerators, with a concentration on indoor installations unless the rating plate specifies otherwise. If certain additional or alternative requirements are met, it permits installations in recreational vehicles and constructed homes (mobile homes).

The standard also includes SI (Metric) units, enabling its use for metric measurements. Based on pre-established norms, yard and pound values are converted to metric units. The first number for a measurement that is provided is taken into account as the requirement, while the matching value in other units may only be roughly accurate. Both units must be provided if a measurement and its related value are both listed as stated marking requirements.
