Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Electric Ironers
Also Known As:
For electric rotary irons, flat-bed irons, and pressing machines made for home use and other comparable applications, the CAN/CSA-E335-2-44-94 standard specifies safety standards.
The requirement also applies to appliances that produce steam or water spray and those that could endanger the public, such as those used by people in farms, light industries, and retail establishments. The guideline does not, however, address risks that may exist in settings like nurseries, where there may be small children or other vulnerable people who are unattended. Additional requirements might be required in these circumstances.
Electric irons (which are covered under a separate Part 2), electric mangles, and equipment meant for use in environments with particular circumstances, such as corrosive or explosive atmospheres, are not covered by the standard.
The standard also notes that particular specifications can be required for appliances meant for use in automobiles, ships, or airplanes, as well as for appliances meant for use in tropical regions. It emphasizes the possibility of extra specifications for these appliances from national health and labor protection agencies in different nations.
