Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Floor Treatment Machines and Wet Scrubbing Machines
Also Known As:
The safety criteria for electric floor treatment machines and wet scrubbing machines intended for domestic use and comparable applications are the focus of the standard CAN/CSA-E335-2-10-94 (R2004). The maximum rated voltage for these machines is 250 volts.
The standard includes floor polishers, floor waxers, floor buffers, rug shampooers, upholstery shampooers, and floor scrubbers in its list of covered machines. It also takes into account equipment used in stores, light industry, and farms that can endanger the public. The purpose of the standard is to address the frequent risks connected to this equipment in and around the house.
The regulation, however, does not account for the use of appliances by youngsters who are not under adult supervision or by those who have limited mobility. Intentional abuse or play by young children are also excluded. Appliances used in automobiles, ships, airplanes, or tropical nations may need to meet additional regulations, as determined by the relevant authorities.
Vacuum cleaners, water suction cleaning equipment, floor treatment equipment for industrial use, wet scrubbing equipment for industrial use, equipment used in environments with corrosive or explosive atmospheres, and floor sanding equipment are all exempt from the standard. These are covered by several standards, or their particular application specifies specific requirements.
