Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Spray Extraction Appliances, for Industrial and Commercial Use
Also Known As:
For the purpose of cleaning fabrics, upholstered furniture, carpets, floor coverings, or hard surfaces, portable electrical motor-operated spray extraction appliances and electrical attachments must adhere to the safety standard CAN/CSA-E60335-2-68-01 (R2015). Appliances designed for use in commercial and industrial settings, such as hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, retail stores, and offices, are covered by this standard.
Machines with or without electrical heating components and with or without attachments are covered by the standard. It covers appliances that operate with a positive cleaning agent pressure of no more than 25 bars or a cleaning agent pressure and flow product of no more than 1000. The cleaning agent's temperature at the spray nozzle outlet shouldn't be more than 85°C.
The guideline also applies to machinery that works with dangerous liquids or dust, such as asbestos, which could come with extra specifications. As long as their impact is taken into account, it also applies to appliances that use other sources of energy for the motor.
It's crucial to note that this standard does not apply to appliances made specifically for using hazardous solvents, appliances only intended for use in homes, or appliances meant to be used in environments with unique requirements, including corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
