Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Wet and Dry Vacuum Cleaners, Including Power Brush, for Industrial and Commercial Use
Also Known As:
For industrial and commercial usage, electrical motor-operated vacuum cleaners must adhere to the CAN/CSA-E335-2-69-94 standard. It includes portable devices and fixed machinery made for wet, dry, or wet and dry suction, with or without attachments. These vacuum cleaners can be employed in a variety of industrial settings, including hotels, factories, schools, hospitals, and offices.
Household vacuum cleaners and those covered by the IEC 335-2-2 standard are exempt from the requirements of the standard. Additionally, it does not include centrally located stationary vacuum cleaning systems or equipment designed for use in hazardous situations like corrosive or explosive atmospheres. Appliances used in automobiles, ships, aircraft, or tropical countries may require additional specifications.
It is crucial to remember that this guideline does not take into consideration the unique dangers present in settings like nurseries or when there are small children, elderly people, or infirm people who are not being watched. To maintain safety in these situations, additional measures could be required. Beyond those outlined in this standard, national health authorities and labor protection authorities may impose additional requirements in several countries.
