Electrical Features of Fuel-Burning Equipment
Also Known As:
A standard known as CSA C22.2 No. 3-M1988 (R2014) specifies standards for the electrical features of numerous types of fuel-burning equipment and appliances. If the particular standard for such appliances specifies compliance with this standard, it specifically applies to appliances that burn gas, oil, and solid fuels. The Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, applies to equipment that is meant to be connected to supply circuits with voltages of 750 volts or less for use in nonhazardous settings.
A variety of appliances and pieces of machinery, such as room heaters, cooking ranges, combination ranges, incinerators, industrial processing equipment, and industrial heating and cleaning machines, are covered by the standard. It lays out specifications for fuel-burning heaters made to be installed and used in conjunction with cooling systems that employ refrigeration.
The standard also specifies standards for oil valves, combustion controls, gas valves, and other controls that could be exposed to both high and low ambient temperatures. These specifications guarantee the secure and appropriate operation of these components under various environmental circumstances.
