Electric sewing machines and electrical mounting systems, with or without electrical equipment, are covered under the CAN/CSA-E335-2-28-94 standard. This standard applies to sewing machines that aren't intended for everyday domestic use but could nevertheless endanger the public, including those that retail establishments or light industrial workers use.
However, appliances designed solely for industrial or commercial use are exempt from this regulation. Additional standards can be required for sewing machines destined for tropical regions. It is significant to note that national labor protection authorities in various nations may have their own unique extra criteria in place.
