Sustainability Standard for Household Clothes Drying Appliances

SKU918354677 Published by Canadian Standards Association CSA Publication Date2016 Pages CountPages59

The Sustainability Standard for Household Clothes Drying Appliances, or CSA SPE-7005-16 standard, offers a thorough approach to examining the environmental effects of clothes drying appliances. This standard uses a multi-attribute and holistic methodology, combining life-cycle assessment (LCA) information with other important elements, in contrast to typical assessments that only concentrate on energy and water consumption during usage.

The standard, which applies to both electric and gas dryers, is designed for clothing drying equipment in North America. Ventless or vented electric dryers of various capacities, compact electric dryers, vented gas dryers, and other kinds are also included.

This standard does not apply to certain types, such as water-cooled electric ventless dryers. The standard's measurements and values are primarily based on North American-specific systems.

The standard is anticipated to be revised in accordance with any modifications made to the minimal energy performance standards established by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) or the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE). Additionally, manufacturers' self-evaluations and third-party evaluations will help the standard continue to advance in future editions.

The standard does not, however, specify how to conduct a conformity assessment or how to apply a mark or seal of conformity assessment. The units of record for this standard are SI units, and values are provided for comparison and reference in parenthesis.
