Safety of toys - Part 5: Chemical toys (sets) other than experimental sets
Also Known As:
The standards and test procedures for the materials and chemicals used in chemical toys are described in the DIN EN 71-5 standard. This comprises both drugs and mixtures that may be hazardous to health in excess amounts even though they are not harmful as defined by EC law. The requirement also applies to any additional chemicals and chemical combinations that come with the chemical toy.
The standard outlines regulations for marks, warnings, safety rules, contents lists, usage directions, and first aid information in addition to material requirements. The standard's scope covers a variety of chemical toy sets, including plaster of Paris molding sets, ceramic and vitreous enameling materials in miniature workshop sets, oven-hardening plasticized PVC modeling clay sets, plastic molding sets, embedding sets, and adhesives, paints, lacquers, varnishes, thinners, and cleaning agents included in or suggested for model sets.
