Safety of amusement rides and amusement devices - Part 1: Design and manufacture
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 13814-1 standard focuses on the design and manufacturing stages of amusement rides and amusement devices' safety. It lays out the bare minimum necessary to guarantee the secure conception, computation, production, and installation of these devices. Roundabouts, swings, boats, Ferris wheels, roller coasters, chutes, grandstands, membrane or textile structures, booths, stages, side shows, and structures for artistic aerial displays are only a few examples of the different amusement devices covered by the standard.
The standard applies to amusement devices that are both portable and permanently installed, and they can be installed more than once without losing quality or integrity. The gadgets can be found everywhere, including fairgrounds, theme parks, and other places. The requirement does not, however, apply to fixed grandstands, installations at construction sites, scaffolding, detachable agricultural structures, or straightforward coin-operated children's amusement equipment that can accommodate up to three children.
It is important to note that, although it isn't specifically mentioned in the document, the standard can be used as a guide when designing any similar structural or passenger-carrying equipment. The standard's focus is on the production and significant alterations of amusement devices, and it specifically excludes any current national regulations on worker safety. It is significant to note that for a period of five years following the release of the new standard, the standard does not apply to the fabrication of pre-existing designs made in accordance with EN 13814:2004. The standard also makes reference to PREN 13814-3:2016, which specifies inspection standards for design, manufacture, operation, and usage.
