Step Stools
Also Known As:
The requirements for step stools, stairtype steps, and dometype step stools are described in the DIN EN 14183 standard. It covers a number of topics, including design features, measurements, materials, performance specifications, test procedures, and the declaration of appropriateness for use. Notably, ladders and stepladders as described by EN 131-1:1993 are not included in this standard.
The limit is based on a maximum total load of 150 kg, as the standard emphasizes. Therefore, step stools that satisfy the requirements stated in DIN EN 14183 should be able to hold a weight of up to 150 kg without endangering the user's stability and safety. This standard's adherence guarantees that step stools are produced and created in a way that offers users stability, longevity, and safety.
