The general specifications for ceramic cookware intended for household use on top of a stove, cooker, or hob are outlined in the DIN EN 12983-2 standard. This standard's goal is to guarantee the performance and safety of ceramic cookware, including both its capacity to endure heat and its suitability for cooking.
This standard recognizes that some cooking may be done in an oven or on top of the stove and accounts for the many culinary activities that may be carried out on ceramic utensils, such as browning meat. Although this is susceptible to future revision, it does not presently include standards for being suitable for use with induction hobs.
