DIN EN ISO 16092-4 is a European standard that outlines the safety requirements and protective measures for persons involved in the design, manufacture, and supply of pneumatic presses used for cold working of metal or partly metal materials. The standard applies to machines that are integrated into an automatic production line where the hazards and risks are similar to those of machines working separately. It also covers machines that are used to work sheet materials, like plastic, cardboard, rubber, leather, and metal powder.
The standard specifies the safety measures for both the operator and other exposed persons, taking into account the intended use, accessibility from all directions, and hazards described in clause four. It covers ancillary devices that are an integral part of the press and presumes access to the press from all directions. The standard does not cover machines whose principal design purpose is sheet metal cutting, bending, spot welding, tube bending, straightening, drop stamping, working by pneumatic hammer, or the compaction of metal powder.
