Standard EN SampleHousehold and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-72: Particular Requirements for Floor Treatment Machines with or without Traction Drive, for Commercial Use
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60335-2-72:2021 focuses on the security requirements for floor treatment equipment used for commercial use. These tools are made to do activities including sweeping, scrubbing, wet or dry pick-up, polishing, and shampooing floors in a variety of settings, including public spaces, workplaces, commercial buildings, and retail stores. The standard applies to devices that use a variety of power sources, including internal combustion engines, mains-powered motors, and battery-operated devices with integrated battery chargers.
However, the standard does not apply to residential floor treatment appliances or equipment made expressly for commercial use, such as road sweepers, wet and dry vacuum cleaners, and spray extraction machines. Additionally, it must not include equipment made to be used in cars, on ships, in explosive or corrosive settings, or to collect flammable or dangerous dust. The standard further emphasizes that ride-on vehicles used for transportation over public roads may be subject to extra rules, as well as the possibility that national authorities may impose additional requirements on the safe use of the equipment covered.
This standard's fifth edition incorporates technical updates, including alignment with IEC 60335-1:2020 and renumbering of subclauses, and it should be used in conjunction with the most recent version of IEC 60335-1 and any additions to it. The sixth edition of IEC 60335-1 (2020), which served as the foundation for the standard, was used.
