Electric irons for household or similar use - Methods for measuring performance

The IEC 60311:2016 standard focuses on electric irons intended for home usage or other comparable applications. It seeks to outline the key performance traits that matter most to the user and offer the accepted techniques for assessing these traits. It covers a variety of electric irons, including spray irons, vented steam irons with motor pumps, dry irons, steam irons with separate water reservoirs or boilers or generators, and steam irons with separate water reservoirs.
It is crucial to remember that this standard does not cover performance or safety requirements. Instead, it emphasizes measurement techniques and clarifies a number of points, including the voltage and frequency to be used for the tests (5.3), the addition of an anti-circumvention clause (5.12), the method for calculating steaming rate (9.2.3), and the kind of water to be used for the tests (14.1 and 14.2). Clarifications and alignment with pertinent mathematics are also shown in Figure 2.
