Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-96: Particular Requirements for Flexible Sheet Heating Elements for Room Heating
Also Known As:
The safety criteria for flexible sheet heating components used for room heating are the topic of the standard IEC 60335-2-96:2019. These heating components are made to fit into ceilings, walls, and floors. According to the specification, these heating elements must have a maximum rated voltage of 480 V for other systems and 250 V for single-phase installations.
The standard recognizes that various nations may have different wiring regulations. For heating systems used in automobiles, ships, and airplanes, as well as for fire protection, building codes, health authorities, and labor protection, additional standards can be required. Industrial heating units and heating units used in environments with corrosive or explosive atmospheres are exempt from the norm.
The standard's second version, which incorporates technical updates, supersedes the previous edition that was released in 2002. With the revised edition, the text is in compliance with IEC 60335-1:2010 and its updates. The strength test for heating units installed on floors has been changed, and several notes have been eliminated or transformed into normative text. Additionally, the revised edition specifies standards for heating units put in walls that are shorter than a particular height.
