Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-68: Particular Requirements for Spray Extraction Machines, for Commercial Use
Also Known As:
The requirements for electrical portable, non-self-propelled motor-operated spray extraction equipment used for commercial indoor uses are covered by the safety standard IEC 60335-2-68:2021. These machines are made to be utilized for cleaning in a variety of settings, including hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, retail stores, and rental businesses. The standard applies to machines without traction drive systems, while a different standard applies to those that do.
The standard applies to both battery-operated and mains-powered equipment (up to 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances). It establishes restrictions on the cleaning agent's pressure, flow rate, and temperature to ensure safe operating conditions. Household vacuum cleaners, floor care tools, commercial wet and dry vacuum cleaners, and hand-held or portable motor-operated electric equipment are exempt from its provisions.
The standard's fourth edition from 2012 and its first amendment from 2016 are replaced by this fifth edition, which was issued in 2021. Technical changes have been made, primarily to align with the most recent version of IEC 60335-1:2020. To guarantee compliance with safety regulations, it should be used in conjunction with the most recent edition of IEC 60335-1 and its revisions.
