Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-61: Particular requirements for thermal storage room heaters
Also Known As:
An international standard called IEC 60335-2-61:2002+A1:2005+A2:2008 focuses on the safety criteria for electric thermal storage room heaters. These heaters are excellent for use in homes and other similar contexts because they are made to heat the space in which they are placed. The standard covers heaters with rated voltages up to 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase heaters.
The safety of these room heaters depends on this standard. It includes a variety of safety topics, such as protection against mechanical risks, electric shock risks, and fire risks. It lays down specifications for insulation, temperature ranges, labeling, and usage guidelines.
Two changes to the standard were made in 2005 and 2008. There is no need to order additional adjustments because these changes have already been integrated into the consolidated version. These changes are made to address any safety concerns that have been found and to keep the standard abreast of emerging techniques and technologies.
