Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-82: Particular Requirements for Amusement Machines and Personal Service Machines
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60335-2-82:2017+AMD1:2020 focuses on the safety standards for electric personal service and commercial amusement machines. These devices can withstand voltages of up to 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances. The range of appliances covered by the standard includes, among others, amusement equipment, bowling machines, dartboards, gaming equipment, personal service equipment, luggage lockers, and shoe shining equipment.
The standard seeks to cover the typical risks that operators and maintenance staff may experience while using or maintaining this equipment. Appliances made solely for domestic or industrial use or those made for use in hazardous environments like corrosive or explosive atmospheres, fairground equipment, or self-balancing personal transportation systems are not covered by this rule. Additionally, it excludes devices covered by other specialized standards, like jukeboxes, home video games, copy machines, ticket machines, ATMs, and virtual reality systems.
The third edition of this standard, released in 2017, includes a technical modification that alters some remarks to make them normative text and clarifies the applicability of some requirements. It must be used in conjunction with IEC 60335-1's most recent edition and any updates. The publication stipulates a transitory period for equipment producers and testing agencies to adhere to the revised specifications and carry out the required tests.
