Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-8: Particular Requirements for Shavers, Hair Clippers and Similar Appliances
Also Known As:
2012+AMD1:2015+AMD2:2018 IEC 60335-2-8 The safety of home and comparable electrical equipment, including shavers, hair clippers, and similar devices, is the emphasis of the CSV standard. The standard is applicable to equipment with a maximum rated voltage of 250 V. It also includes tools for haircuts, pedicures, and manicures. It also includes appliances used in stores and farms by laypeople that could endanger the public.
The standard addresses typical risks that people face inside and outside of the house. However, it does not take into account anyone, especially children, whose physical, sensory, or mental limitations could make it impossible for them to use the appliance securely without supervision or education, or kids who might play with it.
The modifications 1 (2015) and 2 (2018) are included in this sixth edition of the standard, which replaces the fifth edition issued in 2002. Modified standards for animal shearers and clippers, as well as the removal of an ISO 13732-1 reference from the bibliography, are some of the modifications made in this edition.
In order to give equipment manufacturers and testing organizations time to comply, it is advised that National Committees accept the publication's content for implementation within 12 to 36 months of the publication date. IEC 60335-1:2010 should be read in addition to the standard.
